Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of the Church of Christ at Borger is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation.  Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing meals for shut ins; and everything in between.

Bible Hour

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, we hold  Bible Hour in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles.  Our friendly Bible Hour volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from games to object lessons.  Sometimes we’ll even have a group of our teenagers come in to perform a skit to help the stories come alive.  We can always use more help in this area, if this is something that you wish to help with please let us know.  Carrie Walker and Tina DeRouen are our primary Bible Hour volunteers.

Greeters

The greeter team at our church fills a very important role.  They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, and providing direction.  The greeter team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life, and an absolute necessity in being a point of first contact to our visitors.

Song Leaders

God-honoring worship is something we strive for.  Having an inspiring service is a huge part of reaching out to our community, much more than most understand.  We have several church members involved in our song service as song leaders, but we’re always on the look out for more.  These volunteers are a very important part of the ministry here at the Church of Christ at Borger.  If you would like to use your talents and gifts to glorify God in this manner, please let one of us know.  We’ll get you plugged in.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of our church.  In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes.  All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio formats. We also would like to do more on the social media front.  We’d like to maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.  If you would like to help in these areas please contact the office and we will get you set up.

Prayer and Fasting Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer sometimes moves the hand of God, and always aligns our will with God’s.  We are a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to fasting.  Throughout the week, Prayer Warriors, pray for our ministers, a list of church members who are hurting both physically and spiritually, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.  There is also a growing number of people who are committed to fasting for the future of our congregation here in Borger.  We do this in private and in groups.  You can help by being committed to prayer and fasting; and while you’re at it, talk about it within our fellowship, and by striking up those conversations invite people to join you in this effort.

Mission Outreach

We are thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world.  We’re active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers.  We support 8 missionaries located on three continents—Africa, Central America, and South America.  Each year, a small team from our church travels to one of these three continents to assist our missionaries in practical projects and evangelistic outreach.  We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.
